Brandon Knowlden

My name is Brandon Knowlden. I help business owners build more durable companies.

Whether that means optimizing, succession planning, or selling.

Most owners spend decades building and weeks trying to sell. The truth is, well under 0.5% of companies are listed for sale in a given year. And 80% of those listed never sell. The problem is rarely the business – it’s preparation.

If you received a letter from me, this page is meant to give a clearer picture of how I typically work with owners. If you didn’t, the short version is this: I’m a business owner who spends most of my time helping other owners think through what comes next — and preparing their companies accordingly.

Preparing to Sell

Very few companies are ready to sell. Even if you’re not ready to sell today, you may want to get started sooner than you think.

  • Cleaning up financial reporting
  • Documenting systems and processes
  • Reducing owner dependence
  • Identifying risks a buyer would flag
  • Realistic business valuation

Outcome:
A business that actually sells — more quickly, without babysitting new ownership.

Stepping Back

Selling might not be your goal. Maybe you have a succession plan. Whatever the situation, you don’t want your business to depend entirely on you.

  • Strengthening operations
  • Building internal leadership
  • Improving reporting and visibility
  • Creating systems that scale
  • Making the company easier to step away from

Outcome:
A more durable (and valuable) company with significantly reduced owner involvement.

Selling Your Business

Once your business is ready, the actual process of selling can be extremely intimidating. I’ll be with you every step of the way.

  • Positioning the company properly
  • Identifying and engaging serious buyers
  • Management of the entire process
  • Deal structure, negotiation, and closing details
  • Coordinating the right team (attorneys, CPA, etc.)

Outcome:
A completed transaction — with fewer surprises along the way.
